The Greene County boys golf team played in a Class 3A Sectional at the Atlantic Golf & Country Club Friday, May 15, and placed fourth among eight teams.
Coach Heath Telleen noted that it was one of the team’s better rounds this year but it wasn’t enough to advance in the tournament.
The Rams were led by Jack Hanson, who finished at 82, followed by Joe Carey 86, Sawyer Schiltz 88 and Nathan Behne 92. Non-counting scores came from Caden Telleen and Kole Teeples, each with 98.
Advancing to districts on May 20 are Adel-DeSoto-Minburn with a score of 316 and Carroll with 322. Atlantic finished third at 325.
The Greene County girls golf team competed at the South Hamilton Invite in Jewell Thursday, May 13. The Rams were shorthanded with just three players and did not post a team score.
Alex Miller led the Rams, carding 101, followed by Josey Weaver 138 and Kathryn Beaman 155.
Gilbert took the team title, firing 344 in the 18-hole event. Roland-Story was next with 366, followed by West Marshall 407, South Hamilton 416 and North Polk 428.
Eden Lohrback, a Gilbert freshman, claimed medalist honors, stroking 72. Kaitlyn Rahfeldt of Roland-Story was runner-up with 79.
